Ramco Cements – Salem Plant, Tamil Nadu, India is one of the key manufacturing units of The Ramco Cements Limited, a leading cement producer in India. The plant focuses on the production of high-strength cement varieties such as OPC and PPC, with an emphasis on energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and consistent quality to meet growing infrastructure demands. At Ramco Cements – Salem Plant, the automation system was running on GE Ifix SCADA integrated with Opto PLCs. Keeping the PLCs intact, we successfully upgraded Ifix SCADA and historian to v2023, along with the supply and integration of IGS communication driver v7.616, while the plant continued its normal operations, ensuring no shutdown or production interruption. Additionally, 2 Server Workstations and 3 Operator Client PCs were supplied, and the complete design, installation, and commissioning of Ifix SCADA, historian, and IGS driver was executed. The project also included a custom historical trend tool and customized tag reports, alarm & event reporting tools, with Collector Redundancy implemented in Historian to ensure seamless and reliable data collection.
